Nuclear Power

Tony Blair has recently said that in order to provide the energy we need for the future, we will build more nuclear power plants. There is lots going for nuclear power especially in reducing the amount of carbon dioxide (green house gases) that is released into the atmosphere. But do the safety worries outweigh that? Should we be doing more to promote "renewable sources" like solar power, wind and others?

Doctor Who!

Not sure if anyone else here is a fan of Doctor Who but I certainly am! Unfortunately it was the last one of this series on Saturday and it was the last one starring Billie Piper playing Rose.












If any of my friends from Clare School come on, I thought you'd appreciate this picture of Billie! Even though I think she's a good actress and I thought Rose was an excellent character, I'm glad she's leaving. The Doctor needs to be concentrating on saving the universe and not getting distracted by falling in love. The last episode did tug on my heartstrings and I'm not ashamed to say that there were tears in my eyes as Rose was seperated from her Doctor by being flung into a parallel universe. However we have got a Christmas special to look forward to and then a new assistant starting next year.

My favourite line in Saturdays episode?
Darlek: "Cybermen are superior [to Darleks] in just one thing - they are better at dying"!

Cigarettes

The government are consulting people whether they should raise the age that you can buy cigarettes to either 17 or 18. I personally can't imagine that it will make any difference except annoy people and make some young people even MORE determined to rebel and smoke!
